TOPP has set up password protected access to the satellite data for each of the organismal working groups.
First, you must obtain an individual username and password by emailing to toppdatateam@lists.stanford.edu.
Next, you must contact the leader of the working group for permission to access the data. The leader will then send an email to toppdatateam@lists.stanford.edu specifying what username to add to the access list for the group.
Finally, to access your data, you would simply go to the HYPERLINK
http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/group
where group is fish,
shark, squid, turtle, pinniped, bird, or cetacean.
Examples:
Working Group Leader Website
Fish Barbara
Block http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/fish
Bird Scott
Shaffer http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/bird
Shark Dave
Holts http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/shark
Squid Bill
Gilly http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/squid
Turtle Scott
Eckert http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/turtle
Pinniped Dan
Costa http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/pinniped
Cetacean Bruce
Mate http://whiteshark.stanford.edu/cetacean
The first time you connect to one of the above links, you will be prompted for your individual username and password, which you obtained in the first step above. An individual may belong to multiple groups. Passwords must not be shared as this will greatly complicate the management of the system and bypass the administrative authority of the working group leaders.
In each group hyperlink, you will find folders for each available species.
Clicking on a species folder, you will find the following files:
.prv - Argos formatted file
.diag - Argos formatted file
.tab - filtered files for instruments that report a track through Argos locations
.pdf - map file of the area
Access to data is provided by manual links to directories. Individuals in a group will have access to all the data to which the group has access. Additional groups can be added if needed. For backward compatibility, some historical group names will continue to function: argos, costa, matelab, sharkteam, turtlespot, turtlesmru, stripedMarlin, and sea, but these will eventually be eliminated so users should transition to the new names.
